My Brussels Chocolate Tour

Image
Hello. My name is Nicole. And I am a Chocoholic. With no intention to ever become unchocoholized. I can start to get into just how much of a chocoholic I am, but this post is already going to be long enough. So just imagine me - a mega-chocolate addict. So when I found a guided tour all about chocolate, in Brussels???? I knew it was something I had to do. So the three of us (me, my BFF, and her hubby) set off early morning for the train for Brussels, about 55km from where they live. We had just enough time to stop for a quick breakfast....and what would be better to fuel a day of chocolate-touring than a chocolate dipped pain au chocolat?? By the time daylight broke, I was counting down the minutes until the tour started.... ...at the world's first Godiva shop. This was the first Godiva shop and it opened in 1926. Apparently, it's named after Lady Godiva. Legend has it that like, I don't know, a million years ago, Lady Godiva took pity on th...

One Hundred Per Cent

The last eight days, I've spent: 37% of my time sleeping, napping, or lounging around in bed 25% of my time eating Belgian chocolate 13% of my time touring around Belgium (Bruges, Brussels, and Mons) 24.99999% of my time just hanging out with my pals 0.00001% of my time making sure the above % all add up to 100%. I think this qualifies for the best mix of vacation time spent EVER. (PS: Chocolate tour post is still in the making....I've been having some trouble keeping it under like...five pages long!!)

Winter in Belgium

Image
As a Canadian, I'm embarrased to admit that....at -4*C....I am very, very cold. Madagascar has turned me into a wimp! I spent the day in downtown Mons, Belgium. Shopping, walking around, and even a quick stop at McDonalds. No trip to Europe is complete withouth a stop at McDonalds!!! Then it was time for skating! My favorite little four-year old is just learning how to skate, she did a pretty good job, but was fed up after about fifteen minutes. And well...so was I. I LOVE that I get to experience winter, but I was f-f-f-f-rrreezzzing!!!! I know people, grace, pure grace. I should go pro. Not sure what's on tap for tomorrow...but on Wednesday, it's off to Brussels for a CHOCOLATE TOUR. That's right - A CHOCOLATE TOUR IN BELGIUM. Elastic-waist pants will be worn.

First International Christmas

I'll spend Christmas Day, 2010 on a plane - flying here: Spending the holidays and New Years away from family will be very hard . For all of us..... But when I consider that these lovelies - plus one more Frenchie (their dad/husband) - will be my dates for New Year's... ...I think I'm a pretty lucky girl...
