***Warning....there is some explicit language in this post!!!!**** You know what? My life…. just isn’t all that shabby. Yes, work is hard, yes I’m homesick, yes, some days REALLY SUCK , but for the most part, ok, fine, for like ALL the parts, I live a pretty blessed life. (ESPECIALLY when you consider my surroundings.) But this week….this week…. I have just had it. So here comes a post, complaining, just how hard I have it. Please feel free to ignore the urge to have any thoughts (or even comment) on the fact that I should just suck it up, or be grateful, or whatever. I just need to complain. And what better place than to complain on my very own blog? That I get to write whatever I feel like, and I guess…is another blessing it itself. First, I’m not sure if this post will actually make it make it to my blog, because I’m “emailing” it to my blog and not posting it directly. You see, before yesterday, I was able to make posts in the morning before I started work to my blog. ...

Trevi Fountain

Image
Ok, I lied. The last post I said I'd talk about Capri, but first I wanted to post some pictures of our last night in Roma. For some reason (that I can't remember) one of our "must see" places was the Trevi Fountain. This fountain started being built in the 15th century, but because of different popes' wants and desires and ideas, it wasn't complete until 1762. It was also restored in 1998, so it looks pretty spankin' new. Every day the fountain generates about 3000 Euros, which is used to subsidize a market for the underpriveledged (although a lot of the money gets stolen directly from the fountain...) Legend has it, that if you toss in a coin and make a wish, you're guarateed to come back to Rome one day. I thought...I'd try out the wish with a toonie instead of the typical Euro. Two coins tossed is said to lead to a new romance, and three coins tossed is said to lead to a marriage or a divorce. Since I'm pretty happy with my ...

Becoming one....with the jungle....

Are you getting sick of all of my European Vacation posts? I’m trying to not go overboard....which isn't easy since I have about fourteen thousand pictures... But just as a heads up, you can expect….four more I think….one from Naples, two Spain posts, and then maybe a Belgium post. And then that’s it. In the meantime, here’s your regularly scheduled, “ I live in Madagascar and use that an excuse to publish my random thoughts and musings” post. Here are, in no particular order, some reasons that I have come to realize that I am becoming, in part, jungle/bush lady. I’ll warn you know, some of them are a bit gross, so please, just....don’t judge. :P I often leave my toothbrush (accidentally) face down on the counter top. Remember I’m living in Madagascar. I haven’t plucked my eyebrows in about six months. I shave the middle part now and again so that I don’t have a unibrow. (When I lived in Canada I’d get my nails done and eyebrows shaped every three weeks.) Some days, I walk home an...

Vatican City Tour

Image
Still going through my time in the lovely Roma!!! Last we left off, I had just had a tour of Ancient Rome and the Colloseum. The next day it was a tour of the Vatican City. We saw the grounds, St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. Unfortunately there will be no pictures of the Sistine Chapel because cameras are not allowed. Also...there is just TOO much history and too many facts to go through on my blog.... so I've found a few summary links to check out. To read about Vatican City, click here To read about the Sistine Chapel, click here To read about St. Peter's Basically, click here . Sorry to do a total cop out and rely solely on Wikipedia... but it's just too much information!! And the pictures taken? They don't do the tour justice. It was totally breathtaking....and couldn't truly be captured on film... but here goes: Outside Vatican City. Did you know it's it's own country? See that gold ball on the top of the basilica? Just wa...
