Monday Hungover Rambles
I'm pretty lucky in that I think 99% of Louis' friends are great. Okay, I think 100% because I can't think of anyone that I don't like.
First, I'll mention one of Louis' friends (let's call him, Jacques).
I was friends with Jacques before I was friends with Louis. I've mentioned before, that I couldn't understand why Jacques was friends with Louis because he was soooo cranky. Louis thought the same thing about me! Well we all know how that ended. And oh - Louis and Jacques had known each other for like, fifteen years or something like that!!
Jacques/Louis/I didn't spend like every waking minute together, but it was nice to have someone that we could call up on the weekends, or after a day of work, or whatever, to hang out with that didn't require any effort and was just...fun to be around.
But, Jacques took a different job. It was a very un-fun time for all of us when he left. Being so far away from friends and family, you really get attached to the people here. Let's just say that it sucked big time when he left.
But he's not dead or anything so it's not that sad of a story!!!! We still get to see him a couple of times a year. (No where near enough, but least we get to see him!!)
Shortly after Jacques left, one of Louis' good friends, let's call him Joe, came back to work for the project. He worked for a different company on the project, but then was rehired for the same company we both work for. The dynamics of Louis and Joe's friendship is different then Louis and Jacques.
I was friends with Jacques first, and with Joe, it was more like one of Louis' friend, that became my friend through the process of osmosis (??) But we're kind of at that point where if we went out just him and I, there would be a few awkward pauses. Not because we don't like each other, or that we don't enjoy the other's company, but we are...I don't know, we don't have a ton in common and we're just not like BFF yet. Which is perfectly fine with both of us, I think.
HOWEVER, Louis and Joe are having a bromance. Louis misses Joe so much when he's away. I'm pretty sure that Joe is happy to get back to Louis when he gets back from vacation. Every vacation, they buy each other little gifts. A t-shirt, a coffee mug, some kind of souvenir. I find it super cute. I sometimes I get bored with their hockey/sports/machine shop talk, but I like hanging out with them.
Anyway, all of this to get to the point of the story. Joe came back from rotation Saturday afternoon. Louis was so, so, so happy about the prospect of hanging out with Joe yesterday afternoon. I was pretty happy too! It's been a really eventful, stressful rotation, and we needed some cheer and fun!! Well...around 16h00 Joe came over (bearing gifts of course!), and we had an afternoon cocktail. And it was one of those days where it tasted sooo good! So we had another. And another, and after three cocktails...well, there's nothing pretty about it - I'm drunk. And Louis was drunk. And then somehow a few others got into the mix...and we all got...DRUNK. Two years ago, this was a normal occurence, but it doesn't happen that often anymore!
Louis and I woke up fifteen minutes late this morning...and we are slowly putting the peices of the puzzle together of what happened last night. It's one of those days where I'm slowly trying to remember how one drink....ended up with me waking up, with a massive headache, half on/half off the bed, in a pool of slobber on my pillow.
But you know what?? After all the craziness and stress and fights and ups and downs and new job and ....MADAGASCAR, I'm so glad we're leaving on a high note. A stupid, silly, goofy night.
Today's a holiday so the office is quiet, we'll pack tonight, and then's it's OFF on vacation!!!!!!!!
