Jetlag suckzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm on day...2 or day 1 of jetlag. I think day 2. It makes me kind of a horrible person. Or at least not a pleasant person to be around because I'm exhausted, I can't form sentences, and I'm ridiculously sensitive, and get annoyed pretty easily. It's great timing because tomorrow's my birthday. Part of me is torn because I feel like I should do something special to celebrate...but I really just want to relax. And drink an iced coffee. And watch Mad Men with Louis. The weather here is weird-ish. Sort of cold (25*C?), sometimes a bit windy, sometimes really windy, raining a bit, or sometimes raining a lot. I guess the storm is still passing through. I had an early flight so I was up sometime in the 4am range (although I'm not complaining because if I didn't have the early flight, I would be flying with Air Madagascar, which I'm not sure I could handle this jetlagged), and it's only 13h10 and I have to stay here at least until 18h00. Or until ...

Loser Day

Oh, the plans I had today. I was so hopefully...Louis' flight was 35 minutes late which meant he might miss his connection.....but he made it. I had a doctor's appointment which means I miss the connection and will fly out tomorrow. But it's a Saturday which means no company plane, which means travelling Air Madagascar (which is not fun) and means leaving my luggage in storage in Tana until Monday or Tuesday when the company plane can take it (my luggage is TOOOOOOO heavy for Air Mad and they either won't take it or I have to wait until every single person has checked in to see if they have room. Seriously. Ok, I'm a princess, whatever). I booked myself a hair appointment, I was going to get some last minute things I needed here which is like a super nice mall that everyone goes to called Sandton City. Instead....I'm ordering from this place called Delivery Xtreme where they take orders from restaurants in your area. I'm not even going outside. I...

"And boy are my arms ever tired!"

I just flew in from Johannesburg. We very nearly missed our flight and if it wasn't for my desperate-out-of-breath plea to the customs agent that we should be allowed to cut in line, we would have certainly missed our flight (which I was secretly hoping for...but it would kinda be nice to get into the office on a Friday). [Oh! I'm still uncool enough that I got excited because more people spoke to me in German. It's super exciting not standing for once in the past...three years.] Montreal - Toronto - Frankfurt - Johannesburg - Antananarivo - Toamasina. That is a long freaking journey. This rotation should be interesting. First, I'm not entirely sure who my boss is at the moment; Sscond, I start a new job - also not entirely sure what it is at the moment; third, it's a five week rotation (to make up for an eight or nine week rotation after that one); and forth, I'm going to have to ride a stationary bike HARD at least three times a week. More on that later. ...

Jetlag sucks

Image
Source Coming to Canada rocks. Dealing with jetlag does not.. Day three is usually the worst. I'm on day one. Last night I tried to stay awake as long as possible last night but crashed around 20h00. From then until 8h30 this morning I pretty much had a serious of one hour naps. A bunch of one hour naps don't add up to a proper night's sleep. I'm having a rough time speaking/understanding French (although I'm probably tired enough that I could say the same thing for English). I don't have anything else to say. Other than jetlag really sucks. I have much less patience. I am moody. I am tired but trying my best to stay up until at least 22h00. I have an hour and a  half. Seems like an eternity.

Oh!

I DON'T know HOW I forgot, but the key to settling in after a vacation away is: good friends a day at the beach Sun!!! Am feeling about three thousand times better than I was earlier in the week. Yee haw!! **Update on Monday afternoon...** The key to NOT settling in after a vacation away is: going to a super fun day at the beach and eating something that keeps me up sick all night and all day. :( Looking forward to getting my week off to a better start tomorrow.....

I'm back.

Even though I was marginally dreading leaving Canada, it's nice to be back here. No idea why, but it felt like I hadn't been here home MG in like six months. Toamasina welcomed me back with sunny skies and perfect temperature temperature (26*C), along with the smell of roting animals, dirty people, fuel, and the sea... It's a weird world when all of that makes me feel at home. (Still have some Montreal pictures to post. Will get around to doing that once this insano jetlag subsides.)
