Old School Country

I'll start off with the total highlight of my day. I found my old iPod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been going crazy trying to find it this week, but super extra crazy to find it today. My hallway looks like some kind of laundry/paper/yarn (don't know how that's in there)/box bomb went off. But finding my iPod was the one and only thing that I could do today that would make me feel better. I haven't written much about things lately. I honestly don't know how to talk about it. In case you haven't got it already on Instagram or Facebook or on this blog before, my grandpa is a very wonderful man, and isn't like any old grandpa. He has made a huge difference in my life and I feel lucky to have grown up with a grandpa like him. My grandpa is funny, charismatic, can pretty much fix anything that's broken, and you can call him anytime for directions on how to get somewhere in Edmonton (which I STILL did until I left for Madagascar). But a cardiac su...

Last Minute Family Plans

We found out earlier this week that Louis' oldest brother would be passing through Tana on his way to Diego (where is his wife is originally from). They arrived Friday and would leave Sunday morning at 05h00! We found Air Mad tickets that left just after work finished. We could be at their hotel by 20h00, have a late dinner, and then take the Sunday flight Late last night we got an SMS telling us the (not surprising) news that our 18h30 flight was delayed until 21h30. Um...so we'd get there at like 23h00. I asked a travel company that our company travel department uses to check if there was any seats on the earlier flights (which meant missing work), and they told me there were none. I didn't believe the agency. Our travel group is good....but the agency is not so reliable. At 08h00, I went to the Air Mad office and tried to buy tickets on the earlier flight. Success! We got two seats leaving at 10h20. After I purchased the tickets (which takes some time), I had 45 minu...

Special

I like my new iTouch so much, that last night after my workout I forgot it in the gym at camp. I remembered about an hour later, and thankfully my ex-boss had found it and turned it into the reception desk. I am seriously special sometimes.

I'm an addict AND I pretend that I'm a millionaire.

Like seriously, I am seriously, seriously dependant on my iTouch. Like, I don't know how to live without it. Today, I felt like some kind of meth addict. I didn't sleep Thursday because I was trying to fix it using any/every solutions on the internet I could find...Friday I was in a horrible mood, and today I was running around trying to find an extra cord, hoping, PRAYING that a new cord would fix it...it was just my old, sort of frayed cord. And then I gave up. I asked around, it looked doubtful that I would be able to find a "real" iTouch. I was desperate. And then I remembered "the driver connection". If you need something, be it a real live elephant or a special kind  of make-up, I swear it could be found through "the driver connection". Someone always knows someone who knows someone who knows someone...who knows someone. I found a store that had a 4GB Shuffle and an 8 GB iTouch. The 8GB doesn't really impress me, but the price differ...

Obsessive Compulsive Travel Paper Printer

I have a bit of an obsessive side when it comes to my travel itineraries. I need to print every single peice of paper that I might need (and anyone that is travelling with me) and file it in the same order as the travel. Train schedules, Google maps, activities in the area, restaurants I might go to (along with a Google map). On top of that, I download the calendar for the month and type in my flight and train times (departure and arrival), the name of the hotel (if I'm staying at one), and any planned appointments or activities I have. This gets to be the first page of my very thick travel package. I sort of feel dorky. I could easily use my cell phone, computer, iPod to track these appointments, but I'm not happy unless I have that printed off calendar. Today I had a few extra minutes and I typed up my calendar. After typing everything in....I realized that maybe I'm not all that weird (ok, I am. But its still a lot of freaking stuff to remember). May 29 1. Confirmatio...

The iTouch Incident

Image
So…. remember that iTouch ? Uhh…yeah.. Well that entire day was kind of eventful. I spent parts of the day dealing with extremely frustrating stuff. Madagascar stuff, work stuff, personal (trying to get my money back) stuff, and the day ended with a ridiculous meeting. Combined with the day that I had, I was furious because one of the meeting attendees was disrespectful, condescending, inappropriate, and asked ridiculous, pointless questions. It’s so odd because outside of work this person is nice and friendly. At work - it’s a disaster. They become hostile and aggressive….almost attacking in nature. This person’s attitude wasn’t even directed at me, but I was so frustrated why some people are like this. Why don’t we work together to fix the problems instead of blaming (and laughing at!!!) the other party?? I actually left the meeting early. perhaps not my finest moment, but I was soon joined by two others. This project, like any other, faces so many challenges and when I see b...
